Alpaca fiber is considered to be hypoallergenic. Alpaca fiber does not contain lanolin which makes it easier and less expensive to process than wool. Harsh chemical washes are not needed to clean the fiber before spinning like wool. This makes it better for the environment and there is no chemical residue on the garments like many wool garments.
